March 6th began like any other. I opened my eyes to a brand new day. As the sun rose across my window, I heard the lovely sounds of what seemed like a finch, chirping merrily away. As I go about my morning routine, I descend upon the kitchen for a hearty breakfast; Mmmmmm...scrambled eggs with freshly squeezed orange juice. As I indulge upon my feast, I noticed my eldest son pecking away on his cell phone.
"Gregory, what are you doing over there?" I asked. "Why mother, I am on The Twitter!" he replied. "Oh Gregory, you and this Twitter, must you constantly partake in such follies?" I inquired. "Oh mother, you just don't understand..." he sighed. Ring, ring, ring goes the bell to begin school... or was that the dismissal bell to signify the end? The days always seem to fly by so fast! As I am about to soar down the busy streets in my car, I noticed a small, white present obscuring my vision...bird poop! Strolling into the ACES building I am all a flutter to begin my next Graduate course; Computers in the Classroom. My professor, Paul Bogush, introduced Twitter...my arch-nemesis; Write a Bio line, Add a pic, and Make 3 Tweets! How dware that putty tat! However, to make my classmates and my life easier he fed us Hootsuite. Hootsuite organizes social media on a web based dashboard. Although manageable to construct, it feels overcrowded like too many eggs in one nest. My professor's next pitch was an assignment that must be rehearsed daily until the end of this course; Tweet, Retweet-a-Tweet, Remark on someone's Tweet, and Follow 5 hatch-lings. OMG!! Can I do this...or nah? Do I really have important ideas to share? I am still hesitant and timid to share my ideas and feelings even after 2 weeks. As the days go on, I am coming out of my shell more and more. Reading other people's Tweets has been rewarding and I can't wait to apply what I am beginning to learn from them. It will be just a matter of time until I can rest easy and roost in the world of Twitter.
