My youngest son, Aaron, has been playing baseball since he was 9 years old. Watching your young child play a sport that requires commitment, athleticism, and desire is an amazing feat. All the practices in the rain, wind, and sweltering temperatures can put any adult through turmoil but a 9 year old? Now that’s impressive!
Over the last 8 years, Aaron has played pitcher, catcher, second/third base, and outfield. His baseball abilities have also transformed over the years to show the maturity and growth as a player. This current spring, is his final baseball season at Career High School in New Haven. I wanted to publicly share the love I feel about his baseball journey of life.
My son has made me one of the proudest moms because he has learned not only how to play baseball but also become a better thinker and has learn to have empathy for others’ success. This empathy creates compassion and understanding in a way that benefits the team’s moral. Baseball has taught him about practice, patience, and persistence. However, those same 3 Ps have taught him not just about baseball, but important life lessons.
